Refinishing:
- Strip off the old varnish
- Straighten all
sections
- Rewrap all guides, ferrules, and intermediate wraps
- Apply
three coats of finish to all sections
Price usually runs around $150.00
Restoration:
Doing a restoration on a split cane rod is more involved than
refinishing a rod.
- The complete rod is stripped of all varnish and guides.
- The
Ferrules are also removed if they need to be reset and glued.
- All sections
are straightened and checked for any damage or defects
and repaired as
needed.
- Guides are refinished or replaced with hand made duplicate guides.
- The guides are installed and all silk wrappings are installed, using the same
silk thread that was used originally.
- The reel seat and grip are also restored
to original condition or a duplicate seat and grip are made and installed.
- All sections are varnished with three coats of spar varnish.
Price usually runs from $300.00 to $800.00
Repairs:
We can handle most any repair in our shop.
- We can replace
missing or damaged guides.
- Duplicate missing or damaged ferrules.
- We can repair or duplicate most reel seats or grips.
- We repair loose fitting
ferrules by nickel plating the male slide
and then refitting this to the’
female.
- We also repair hook digs or complete delaminations.
